Then this afternoon someone hit Donald, my old show duck, and tore his leg up pretty bad. We got the bleeding stopped and He is still with us but only time will tell. We "cast" his leg and he is kind of acting better. Although his leg is broke at the knee if we cast it straight after he heals he will be able to get around. However if we leave it he may never walk again if it heals in a way he won't be able to put weight on it. We are also giving him a higher protein feed to help him heal. For now he is in the old show pen with Daisy where they both will stay until Donald is 100% recovered.
For what it is worth today was a good day for cleaning the house and playing with fiber. Mom finished washing the rest of the fleece we need for the research and carded everything that was already washed. As soon as the last part dries she will card it and get the batts and info sheets in the mail and we will be off and running.
I did manage to fit in a bit of riding but I think it was just to make me feel better ... not that it really worked. We also had two chicks that are now out and about with their mother hen. Maybe there will be more who knows? There are a few duck eggs under one of the hens that is setting ... maybe there is going to be a few ducks hatch too. For nowMom says we should all go to bed early and get this day over with ... I think I agree!
