New Face for a New Place

12/6/2012

So for those that hadn't noticed ... hehehe ...  the page is slowly getting a new look for the new year.  I have been busy trying to get the pages all changed to the new format and trying to come up with a new front page.  I have desided that I want the page to show the farm more and the work we do here.  I guess it is a sign that I am growing up but I have started to look at the page from others point of view and while I know that it doesn't sound bad.  I have started to think it sounds more like bragging and I am not sure I like it.  So with my Mom's help I am trying to take this page, farm and blog in a new direction.
I want to change things up a bit and I think we have found a way to do that but it will take a bit of time and a bit of creativity.  As many have probably noticed we have started having daytime farm guests.  Well, they are actually Mom's friends with grandkids that are in town from the city to visit Grandma.  Grandma wants to teach the grandkids more then city life while building memories that last a lifetime.  So Mom has started inviting them to come here for a visit. Some have stayed all day while other only lasted a few hours.  No matter the length of the visit, through them we have learned to make wonderful Memory "movies" out of video and photos shot that day.  From there we started thinking that we should be open to the public for scheduled farm visits.  Each visit will be very affordable and be personalize to each family.  And it will include our new signature "Movie" available on the net. (the ones we have done so far are private so we will be making a demo to post on the web at a later time)
So what does all this mean.  Well, for starters we are thinking we will need to keep Angel.  She is so gentle with children that she can be riden by a 5 or 6 year old that has never been on a horse before.  I mean saddled up and the child taking the reins and riding in the open pasture, riding.  And while Ice and I are never far away Angel makes them feel like they are really do it by themselves.  She has truely become a blessing to this farm and the children that have come to love her here.  I know at times we have had to consider selling her due to the cost of feed and the growning number of mouths on the farm to feed but I think we have come up with a first time, one of a kind idea to ensure Angel a forever home here on the farm.  We now believe that by the Grace of God she has found her purpose and forever home here on our farm and that is why we have never found the right buyer for her.  From here on out we have Deemed Angel a "Rescue Rider" for children that just need to boost their own confidence.  (More on that later as we still have a few bugs to work out)
Anyway, as you can see our farm is going to change and grow but our plan is very clear right now.  We feel at this point and time we are a working Fiber Farm that will show the public the country way of life and build a lifetime of memories.  So We are not only Where the fiber meets the west but we will now be including And Where a lifetime of memories are made.  Look for more of our updates as we get them lined out.  Also please notice that our shares now include a free day visit with Memory Movie so if you are ever in the area come see us ... Really ... You will always be welcome.

Part of being a business person is looking at things from your customer's perspective. If you want them to buy your product, you do need to present it well.

By the way, I LOVE the new look. Yep, you are growing up. Nope, parents don't have to like it. You are an enterprising young man, with a ton of potential.

I love the whole idea! Keeping an extra mouth to feed can be costly, but you have found a way to give everyone what they need. Whether it be a permanent home (Angel) or an experience that they would not get otherwise! A true entrepreneur is what you are & I am proud to say that I know a "kid" who has his head on straight and looking towards the future, not only for himself, but his family and community! Great job, RJ!

Great new look! I love what you are doing on the farm. And I also am glad you have kept your "Lessons Learned" on the site. It was the first thing I checked for when I noticed all the changes. :)

AND I am VERY happy for Angel. :)
