Lambing season ...

2/12/2013

So today was a work horse day again ... It didn't start out that way but with the bad weather coming in it turned to work in a hurry.  Dad had his day job to go to so it was just Mom and I getting ready for the weather.  While I did chores Mom took care of the rest of the trash burning So that it will all be gone before the weather hits.  Then her and I got in plenty of wood for the fire so we can keep the house warm.  After that Mom made sure all the dishes and laundry were done so that if there are problems with the water freezing up everything will be clean to start with.
We knew we had to go get feed so a trip to town was already on the agenda.  We decided that Katie needed a different medication because she still isn't well and is even looking a bit thin.  I also picked up the CD/T which is a shot that we have to vaccinate with about a month before the goats and sheep give birth.
We stopped by the grocery store and got the fixings for chili and more stew.  When bad weather hits those two things can be made on the wood stove pretty easy.  When we gathered everything we headed home.
When we got to the house Mom helped me gather all the sheep and goats so that I could get them vaccinated before the weather came in because if we wait we would have to wait until the weather cleared out.  And by then It might be delivery time.  So we got them all penned up ....

Then one by one they each got a shot and got turned out again.

There were a few surprizes on the way though.  Remember Snickers???  Well, this is what you see from the front ...

This is what you see from her side ... If you look just right as she walks every other step you can see Pink and that is what we call a bag folks ....

So what does that mean to you and me?  Well, We have alot of work to do.  First, we know that chief is the Daddy.  That means that the Crosses should be South down/Cotswold. Making them SouthWolds.  Okay, so we know what they are.  Now I need you to decide if we will name them as southdowns or Cotswold.  Southdowns are indian tribes and cotswold are candy names.  Or we could just come up with a new convection for the crossbreds ...

Well, if Carrie has her way we would have some really strange crossbreds because her favorite man is Midnight, the cat.  Take a closer look in that hole in the hay ...

Okay so I know there is no chance for Carrie and Midnight but don't tell them that it is fun to watch Carrie nudge Midnight around and see the looks Midnight give back.
