I also got to give Will his certificate for his support with the community coop and his help in rebuilding after the storm.... Okay Mom got to hand it to him but I got it printed and framed.
Tonight was awesome.... For so many reasons.... We had our year end 4-H banquet tonight. I am very proud to say that this year we had 4 new members turn in record books and 3 of those new members were from the poultry club and the other one was the young lady that did the horse shows with me. I am proud to say that I am getting new members to take part each year. Growing 4-H is something I take pride in. Since I had a hand in getting them all involved in one way or another, and I am an officer, I got to award them their gate signs. It was pretty cool. I also got to give Will his certificate for his support with the community coop and his help in rebuilding after the storm.... Okay Mom got to hand it to him but I got it printed and framed. And my biggest award is that for the second Year in a row I was named Outstanding Jr. Member of the year. It means alot of me because this is my last year as a Jr Member. Next year I will be in the Senior Class and for the last 4 years I have been recognized for one of the 3 major year end awards. The first year I got Citizenship, the next I got Leadership and then the last two years I have gotten Outstanding Jr. Member. I leave behind the Jr Class with high honors and with high hopes that I can continue to represent my 4-H club with High expectations. Outstanding Jr. Member of the year.... Poultry Certificate .... Horse and goat pins... Horse Show Team ... My certificate and pins My Laptop bag with my title of Outstanding Member ... Now I just need a laptop .... lol

I am so proud of you! You do great things for our county 4H and community! You've created great clubs and help other young people see their potential. I am honored that I share a community that has kids like you in it! It makes me feel that maybe the world isn't all that bad after all...

I will say that after I got to talk to my Mom there was an unexpected turn for the night... One that no one really gave much thought to but none the less it happened. Sandy, Will's wife, works with troubled youth in our the justice system. I knew that but I never thought of what it would mean to her to see kids doing good things. Last night reminded her that kids can do great things when given the chance. And maybe she can turn one life around ... and that there is always hope for kids ... We hope we renewed her faith in her job and the kids of today ... Thank you Sandy and Will for coming ...

You're quite right that attending such an event could restore faith in kids and add meaning to turning just one person's life around. But I think everyone who reads your blog is delighted with your awards and happy that you are out there earning them. It means a lot to hear from you regularly via your blog. Comments are closed.
