Figuring things out ...

2/5/2013

Okay so today I spent the day going from the house to the barn every few hours to check on Storm. So far everything is looking good. She is limping but her wound doesn't seem to be swollen to much. That is a good thing because the Vet gave her an anti-inflamnitory shot in the vein last night and that means it is working. They also gave her a long lasting antibiotic shot and a tetnis Booster. She had her shots in the early parts of Dec but this one is just to be on the safe side. She has to have more antiboitic in her feed with every feeding so we give her a half a scoop in the morning and half in the evenings.

For pain management she has to take one pill a day ... here is her horse size asprin ... So how do you give a pill to a horse?
Picture
Truth is you don't  ... Who remembers these??  Yup a mortar and pistol ... To get Storm to take her pill I have to grind it up and put it in her feed too.

With all that under control (sorta), Mom and I turned our attention to the Vet Bill situation.  And we came up with an Etsy Shop.  We have listed some bags and Novelties there.  We think Etsy will be a better place to get exposure then my web page.  After all, You have to find my page just to find what I have for sale.  So we are hoping that we will get more customers by marketing our projects where people are already looking for them.  As for everyone here ... They can use the Coupon Code VETBILL and get 10% off everything in the shop.
So where did all the info from the Great Flyin' West Give away take us??  Well, we figured that out too.  Thanks to everyone's input we are proud to Introduce our new Mohair Roving ... It will be a 50/50 blend of Mohair and .....    SHETLAND!  These will sell as limited shares and if they don't spin well they won't be repeated.
We also made a discission about the rest of the shares.  Taking into account how things are in the world, the economy, along with the higher prices that us farmers have to charge just to break even, and adding in the want to do the right thing and buy all natural and support the local farmer.  So we are going to step up and offer a new payment option.  It will help allow people to do the right thing by supporting farmers while not showing such a crunch in their own budget!!  There will be a $1.00 processing fee for each payment unless you pay in full all at once.
All this figuring has made Mom hungry and since tomorrow is  her Birthday I am off to bake her a cake with MY favorite frosting....

Where can I find the link to your etsy shop? I'm not sure that I understand what a "share" is. Could you explain how much that is?

I thought I put the link to the shop in the post but I guess I spaced here it is ... http://www.etsy.com/shop/QTFARMSHOP
As for shares ... We sell Shares like a Community Supported Agriculture Crop would. While there are no garentees about what you will get be try to make sure everyone gets a fair share of the "harvest of fleece" We limit the number of shares and pray for a good growing of the fleece. I think last year yarn CSAs brought 5 or 6 skeins and roving shares yielded 8 oz of roving from the mill

I have to brag on your product......I have been a shareholder for both yarn and roving and have been very pleased. The roving was easy for me to spin, which is important since I am a novice spinner. The yarn knits up beautifully, very soft. I also found out this stuff dyes very nicely. I have already snapped up shares of the new roving, can't wait!!
