Farrier Day

3/15/2013

So today I got a few things done.  First remember this sign???
Picture
Yup, Mom and I set the post and got it hung today ... That is a redbud tree behind it.  It is the Oklahoma State tree.  After that we also put every one of the lambs out for the day.  Okay not Cheyenne and not all day.  We made sure that they all were out during the warmest part of the day because the wind was creating a nice breeze and the sunshine would do them all good.  Rerun is better but still labors to breath.  He takes another treatment tomorrow so we hope that will show even more progress.
In putting out all the lambs we did get an unexpected surprize.  Seneca isn't making enough milk for the twins Chickasaw and Quapaw so we are bottle feeding them twice a day to make sure they get all they need.  Well, I guess Seneca now thinks that all poo that smells of powdered Milk replacer is her baby.  She didn't let Cheyenne nurse but she didn't headbutt her away either.  So tonight we will try and let Cheyenne bed down with Seneca and the twins and we are hoping Seneca will teach Cheyenne to be a lamb and not a Dog.  Besides this way Jethro and her get to at least sleep in the barn together even if there is a panel between them.

So who can name the three babies I posted??  Just a test ...First is Comanche, Second is Pickles and Third is Apache.
Anyway, the big thing we got done today is that all the horses got a visit from the farrier.  That means hoof trims all around.  The worst hooves were Sedan's.  Remember this is his first visit with our Farrier and Let me remind you Mom is very fussy about how she wants the horses hooves done.  Our Farrier is one of the best in this area.  (No I am not just saying that)  Check out Sedan getting his hooves done.

Look at how much Sedan had to have removed from just one of his hooves.

Storm on the other hand actually freaked out when it came time to do her foot that she had the stitches in.  She knocked the farrier to the ground but he wasn't hurt.  After that she calmed down and did just fine.

Two bonus Pictures Mom says you have to see ... Chickasaw and Jorden ....

I think they are friends ...
