Everyone is a Winner

12/11/2011

Today was a busy day on the farm.  First I helped Dad try and get the Christmas lights up.  (we still don't have that done and Christmas is coming)  Then we went and got the hay for the winter.  We had our small square bales but the round bales had to be brought home from about 2 miles away.  We can only move one bale at a time so it took awhile.  While Dad finished up bringing home the hay I took time to work with Angel.  Out of everything that happened today working her was the best.  After she walked with me to bring up the calves I turned her out in the pasture for a few hours and guess what ... She ate hay and grazed but she would lift her head and didn't over eat any one thing.  I only left her out for about two hours but it is a good sign.  It means that she is no longer over eating in fear of not having a next meal.  To me that is my best win of the day.

After Dad finished up bringing in the hay we worked the cattle. Jamie has worms and isn't doing to well in the cold so we thought we would take care of all of them and get the worms under control now.
Finally my Welch Round Up Club Banquet was today. I won the Steer Stopping buckle and then in top honors I also got All-Round. I had hoped Ice would win the Roping horse of the year but it was by Vote and the other person I was up against was local so everyone knew him and voted for him. Oh Well, That is how it goes sometimes. I got some really cool stuff for my awards and for participation.   First my new Steer Stopping Buckle ....

Super! And so glad Angel is improving. She obviously knows how lucky she is to be a part of your family!
