End to Winter Give Away ...

2/10/2012

Okay, another rainy day but this time the clouds cleared and left us with a cold wind.  I know we have to have some winter but no one said I had to like it.  To get a break from the cold Mom let me go to town with her and I traded in some old ropes I had for a new Classic Heat Heading rope.  The guy who owns the feed store sells used ropes and for the cost of a new rope he got some used ones to sell.  It is a win, win for us young broke cowboys.  Ropes are expensive and it takes me two weeks pay to get enough money together to get one.  This way every once in a while I get a free one.

Across the parking lot from the feed store is V & S.  It is kind of a discount store and the only store in town that has material.  And they are the only store besides Wal-Mart that has yarn too.  That is what draws Mom in.   Most times Dad and I head to the feed store while Mom heads to V&S.  This time Dad wasn't with us so Mom went to the feed store with me and I had to go to V&S with her.
I know it doesn't sound like a terrible thing to you but Mom could take all day in that store.  After walking the rows and rows of material one thing caught my eye.  That one thing that I found down the isles while Mom looked at stuff was this really cool looking material.  And it was on sale.

Mom picked up a piece for me and said she would make a lap throw for me out of it. I found two squares that she said she would make into a pillow to match. Then She picked up an extra set and said she knew something "that would send the winter blues packing". We paid for my set and the extra and headed home.
Mom made both lap throws and my pillow and I sat down to watch another Rawhide.

Mom said that the extra lap throw could be a wall decoration or a lap throw and she said I could give it away on the blog.  She said she would also include the extra sqaures so that someone could make a pillow or two if they wanted too.  (She said they would also make cute quilting sqaures if someone had a notion to make them in to some)  That way whenever I use my lap throw and pillow I could think of whoever has the other one as my winter blues chaser.  She said I would get a warm fuzzy feeling knowing that maybe the matching throw will help chase someone elses winter blues away.  I know they look a bit like Christmas but I don't care I just like the scene.
So if you are interested in being my Blues Chaser enter by leaving a comment about what you are looking forward to the most when Spring comes.

What a lovely gift, I would love to snuggle under that while I read or crochet. I think the thing I look forward to most about spring is being able to get out and go walking with a good friend. We walk around the neighborhood and look to see what people have done to their houses since last fall. It's a great way to exercise and spend time with friends all at once.

What a wonderful mom you have! I love your lap throw, and thank you for giving us the opportunity to win one like it! What I like most about spring is all the beautiful flowers that bloom :) And all the new life you see everywhere makes me really happy!

Your mom is the best, and your lap throw is perfect for "Barn on the Web"! When spring comes we look forward to all the new lambs skipping and playing in the fields around here, and the little birds nesting in our roof. Last year wrens and blue tits raised their babies up there, we watched them building their nests and feeding their young ones.

I look forward to everything about spring, but especially all the new life. From flowers to veggies in our garden to little lambs and chicks. Everything comes back to life in the spring and I cannot wait!

Spring is my favorite time of year here in NC. It seems every day there is a new tree or bush in bloom. We live in a nighborhood where there are lakes that attract geese and ducks, so we get to see lots of babies when warmer weather comes.
I am also looking forward to my AM and PM doggie walks. It will be warm enough not to have to bundle up. (although I do enjoy wearing my hand made mitts and scarves in the winter!)
