Earthquake??? I have other concerns

11/6/2011

Okay so two days ago there was an earthquake here in Oklahoma.  It was down by Oklahoma City and we didn't even feel the after shocks.  Then last night we had a bigger one and this time it could be felt here.  Okay, so it happened at 11:00pm and I was in bed fast asleep.  I didn't even know it happened until this morning.  To be honest the trains on the right away don't even wake me up and they come through and shake the house every 20 minutes or so.  As for the animals.  They were all bedded down too.  As Mom says "it was nothing to write home about"  So why is everyone making such a big deal about it.  It didn't even make anything fall off the walls like you see in the movies.  Oh, Well!
There were a few other things that happened today that concern me more.  Okay, please remember I am a kid and different things concern me then adults.  First the Chainsaw quit Dad.  This is a big deal because we use a wood burning stove to heat our home in the winter.  Without a chainsaw to cut wood we have no heat.  He took it to his cousin who repairs chainsaws and was told it would cost more to fix it then to buy a new one.  After Mom and I talked Dad is getting a new Chainsaw for Christmas but he doesn't have to wait to use it.

He gets it now and gets to unwrap an empty box on Christmas Morning. Here on the farm sometimes it isn't about what you want it is about what you need and we need that chainsaw. Mom got it for him but it took a big chunk of our Christmas Money..... Merry Christmas Dad!!!  Now all he has to do is put it together and get that fire wood cut for the winter.  I worked hard today too.  Mom designed a square hay bale feeder for my Goats and Sheep and today I built it.  Check it out.  It took me all day because I had to measure everything, Cut the pieces and then Weld them together.  It is made of metal pipe and rebar.  After that I had to trim any thing that could get caught in the Goat's and Sheep's Fleece or on their horns.

By the time Mom got home from work I had it almost done but she took a few quick shots of me trimming it up.  So what do you think?  I will be using it tomorrow for the first time and I will get better shots then ... I also will be entering it in mext years fair.
