So much to tell...

5/3/2013

Oh man!!  Where to start??  I know at the beginning right??  That means start from last night.  As you all know Momma was found in the pasture not doing very well as the snow moved in.  (Yes, snow in Oklahoma in May - Crazy Oklahoma weather ... We covered that last night ... LOL)  So Moving on ... Last night Mom had about come to terms with it being Momma's time to cross the Rainbow bridge but as we keep watch lthrough the night something changed.  For one thing by 4am Momma could stand up on her own and then lay back down without falling.  She didn't take her covers off or leave the pig blanket but what more could we want.  By 7am the Old girl was wanting her feed as if nothing had ever happened.  As I predicted there were tears, but Mom shed happy tears for her "tough old bird".  If you would have asked me and Dad last night we would have said she wouldn't last through the night, but I guess Mom gave Momma a little more then her heat last night.  I think Momma read Mom's heart.  Who knows, but for whatever reason Momma is still with us and doing much better and is now living in the barn until this crazy weather passes for good.  Only Sunshine and warmth for Momma from here on out.  Anything else and we will make sure to put her in the barn in advance.

Next, I now own a Panda ... Okay it isn't a real Panda but that is what he is named ... Check this out ...

Panda is going to be our next Shetland Ram.  Every two years we have to switch so that when the Babies come of breeding age we have an unrelated Male to breed with them.  So This year we got one young that will be raised with this years ewe babies but he won't be used to breed until 2014 and Elliot will be removed from the farm.  That means this Fall will be Elliots last Breeding season on our farm and he will be up for sale.
Since Sheep are flock animals we always pair the babies up if they have to be by themselves.  Panda is matched up with Quapaw and both are on the web cam.  You can check them out by Clicking

And the last thing that was going on today was that Mom has decided to buy a Chocolate Merino Ewe.  I put it out on the web that I might be getting one and asked if anyone would be interested in Shares but I really didn't get any one interested in owning shares in a Merino Lamb, so I am going to pass.  Mom however has wanted Merinos for the last year and a half and she has decided that She will be purchasing her first ever very own Lamb.   Every lamb, goat or alpaca that has been purchased for this farm was all because of me.  Now Mom says she wants Merino and if I am not going to buy it, Mom says she will.  So while we are waiting on the last confirmation email and arrangements to be made, say congratulations to Mom on her first ever all hers purchase of Hersey, the Chocolate Ewe ... I am sure if anyone is interested in a Merino Share I could get Mom to open her up to you all as long as she gets fiber too.  LOL
Here is the Picture she saw it was take a few months ago but you get the drift.
