I also took time to order my marking harnesses for next year ... No more false alarms here. I ordered four so that I will have one for the goats, one for Chief - the southdown ram, one for a cotswold and a shetland ram if I ever find one before fall. I also picked up two alpaca halters while I was ordering. I will need them when I go to show Jorden and Juneau this Fall. Did I mention that we cut, baled and hauled in another 100 and some bales of hay today as well? Oh and I had to go to the USDA office this morning to take care of a calf note.
In the middle of hauling the hay in I got a call that I didn't like. Buttons, the calf that showed up at the house yesterday, passed away. I know that we could have saved her if the owner had left her with us. Mom agrees but said you can't make someone leave a animal here. The neighbor means well but they have to work and they only fed and checked her three times today. We would have had her inside and fed small bottles every two hours like she should have been. Sometimes life isn't fair to man nor beast!
