Tonight was really great. We had our 4-H Banquet and I had a surprise planned for our extention agent but he sure showed me. Let me start at the beginning. Tonight was our 4-H Banquet. We showed up early to set everything up.
We had time to play around a bit before everyone got there. Then we had our banquet.
It was great when I got recognition for my continued Poultry work, for my horse project, my Fiber Project and some group events I attended.
I was really surprised when I got Outstanding Jr Member of the year. That is the top award of the year. Nothing can top that. Or Can it???
I really didn't think that could be topped until I got a citation from Oklahoma Representative Steve Martin for my two top ten placings in the Championships at Tunica
After that I was on cloud Nine but I had a job to do. And I had a few surprises up my sleeve as well. This year I have traveled a bit more with 4-H and I have learned that not all extention agents are the same. Ours is very dedicated and all the kids have not only the office number but his cell phone number just in case we ever need his help. He is our friend as well as our agent. This year Mom and I hatched a plan to let him know that we know he gives all.
He tried not to act mad that we highjacked his banquet
As we gave him a small framed thank you and a sign for his door he started to lighten up and when Mom gave him the gift card to take his wife out to eat he was all grins.
Then it was my turn for a bit of fun. I gave him a tree and 5 bucks. Okay not funny to you but it has a story. The tree was because while I was at Tunica our State had it's 4-H Round up. At the end of Round up they give away trees and in each picture there was our Vice President holding the package of trees. In the slide show everyone was laughing about it and playing where's the trees. I told our Agent that I didn't want to miss the new tradition so I got him his own tree. Okay it was a bush but he got a laugh out of it. Then I gave him the 5 bucks. He had told me after the fair that if I tagged his car (wrote on the windows with window chaulk) one more time He was going to make me wash it. So to get my money's worth I had every officer sign his windows. When I handed him the 5 bucks I told him what I had done and that he would have to take the car to the Automatic car wash. I also told him it was worth it to see his face at that moment when he figured out what we had done. He just laughed and shook his head. He really is a great guy and we love our Agent. He even admitted later that it got to him to know we care about him and the job he does. It is nice to feel appreciated and we appreciate him alot
