What did Gen. Washington cross on Dec. 25 1776??
Nothing much really happened yesterday ... Well, one little thing happened. One very little thing ... To bad Mom thinks it is hers.
If you can't see it very well here is a better one ....
And to top it all off, that thing thinks Mom in it's Mom. When ever Mom puts her hands in there it shuts up ... Watch ...
On a better note for me ... we got in a new calf today.... He isn't eating very well but that will change in a day or so. He had to have medication when he got in and the cold air was playing with him a bit. We have him in the shed with a heating lamp so we think he will do just fine....
Then just for fun I played with B'day and Mom even let me give her a bottle too... You haven't seen funny until you have seen a very large cow drink from a large baby bottle .... check it out ... I love her so much ...
She is one Awsome Calf ... I mean Cow ... I have hand raised her since she was like a week old ... Okay Mom and Dad helped to but I broke her to ride ... LOL
And for the Christmas Question ...
What did Gen. Washington cross on Dec. 25 1776??
Today I got more mail then anyone in the whole house... Okay so I got two packages and Dad got a letter. My two packages are really cool. The first one was my stuff from the printers. Everything turned out good. The second was from Kristen and it was a Christmas Swap box. I loved it. She sent my favorite food in the whole world. Maple syrup! And not the store bought kind. I am talking the cream of the crop as we call it. My Grandmother lives in Upstate NY and until she got forgetful she used to send us a gallon of real Maple syrup every year for Christmas. The gentleman would pack it special for us and cut her a deal... Then we would use it Chrismas Morning on our Pancakes and then Mom would use the rest through out the year to flavor our home made syrup so that the good stuff would last a long time. Anyway, I used the syrup this morning and then Mom made me a batch of my kind of syrup just like old times. It was really great and I don't know if Kristen will know it or not but I love that gift. She also made me a hat and sent some Goat's milk carmel. I am one happy camper... Check it out....
Then Mom tried to steal my Hat... She said something about it being payment for making my waffles and syrup ... I told her NO WAY!
Waffles with real syrup ... The perfect cold morning breakfast ... Thank you Kristen for a Perfect gift and a perfect breakfast and a perfect morning.....
Christmas Question #4
On what day do French Parents exchange presents?
Today has been exciting. First, Mom and I worked on getting all the information we need to raise great Babydoll Southdown sheep. We started with the farm were we got our sheep. The Yetters are great and you should check them out at www.ohdangfarm.com It is an awsome farm. While we started research there we found that all their breeding stock is registered with the Olde English Babydoll Southdown Sheep Registry. They are the original southdown sheep. From there we learned that the standard micron range for these sheep is from 19 to 22. That actually puts our fiber in the same range as Cashmere. These same Southdown fibers are known to have more Barbs per an inch then any other wool which means that it is ideal for blending with other fiber. We then located a company in Colorado that we are going to send clippings off to and get our actual Micron rating and then we are going to breed and feed to get the softest fiber we can. At first when Mom and I were looking into understanding the micron rating and ins and outs of fiber I thought I might want to change breeds to get a softer fiber but now I am thinking I can make a great product with what I have.
That isn't all I learned today. This evening after supper I learned to Lucet Weave. Mom picked me up some thicker rope at the local farm store and now I am working on making my first Horse halter. I hope it is for Angel if it turns out right. With all that going on plus my school work, a 4-H meeting and picking up feed I had a pretty full day of learning.
Chirstmas Question #3
According to Irish religious legend what opens at Midnight on Christmas Eve?
I popped this picture of Angel while I did chores tonight ... The blanket is to big but It will help keep her warm and help her gain weight. Horses eat to create heat and she is thin so she will shiver off everything we feed her if we can't cut the cold. Mom said she wasn't coming in the house so this is the next best thing I think ... Sometimes Mom isn't any fun ...
This picture also shows just how thin she is ... Her neck is so thin ..... Wish the mud would go away so she can be cleaned up and feel better .....
Today was a normal day. Okay for me it was anyway and I am the one telling this story so it is a normal day. First Dad and I tried to hang the outside lights ... To bad it took until after 10 am to get everything out of the atic and sorted. Then by 12 we had to leave to head to my Rodeo. I only entered the Calf Roping and the Team Roping. I won the Calf Roping because I was the only one that actually caught my calf. Then in the Team roping I roped with Robert. I headed and he heeled. To bad it took me two loops to catch. It gave us a long time and we were one place out of the money. Oh well, I can't win everytime or it would get boring. Anyway, We got home an did chores and are now nice and warm and Mom says we are going to be early. Fine by me... But first Here is Christmas Question #2.
In Sweden, What Christmas Animal is Julbrock? He is a Straw Yule __________________.
So there is this storm coming and this week we are suppose to start weather that is colder and winterier then it has been. Add that to everything that has happened this week and Mom has put her foot down and decided she wants everything we own home so that we can care for it.
With it being Saturday it was easy to go work the sale barn and bring Angel home. I was so happy to see her. She looks better already and she is so bright eyed and he head is up like it should be and Well, she is just better all around ...
I am not saying she isn't still thin because she is and she still looks like she needs to grow into her head but Look at the pride she has now. She stands tall and knows her life is worth something. I can't wait to get to ride her. I know it is a long time off but I will wait and when I do get to ride her ... Well, I don't know what will happen but right now I know I will feel it in my heart... She really is an Angel ... She took the halter like it was nothing new and she only took three tries to load into the trailer. Even our horses sometimes take that long to load and they haven't known half the troubles Angel has.
With all that said Libby and B'day were also brought home today.
With any luck both Libby and B'Day are bred and if so we will have our first two baby calfs on the place sometime in Aug. of 2012. I even know what B'Day's first calf will be named ... Cherokee...
Now for some fun ... Mom is so into Christmas and she has a ton of Trivia Questions about it So I have decided to ask on each day. I hope someone knows the answer besides Mom. There is no winners this is just for fun...
What Saint Brought Christmas to Ireland in the 15th Century??
Today Mom made yet another attempt to get us back on track and in the Christmas Spirit. Yes, we worked on some Christmas traditions. First, you need to know what our traditions are. The one we worked on today is our gift bags. Everytime someone comes to our house during the holidays we give them a small bag of treats to take away with them. Everyone from the postlady to the ups guy gets them. So we made our bags today. Okay so they are nothing special. We take ziplocks and put in some butterscotch, strawberry and Mint candies. Then we added a packet of instant cocoa. Normally we make homemade cocoa mix but this week has been so crazy. We also normally make dipped spoons to put in each bag but we haven't gotten that done either. Mom says we can add them later if we have time but for now our plan ziplocks will do....
After that we set up the bar to look Christmasie. (I have no idea how to spell that is it with an ie or a y??) Anyway check it out....
We ended our day listening to the National Finals Rodeo online and wrapping a few gift we had. I also figured out that I can't find one that I got for Dad ... Mom says she will help me look tomorrow.
But we didn't call it a day until after we dressed Penny in her costume for the open house ... She is so cute....
From the back ... LOL
Most everyone knows what happened last night but in case you missed it one of my friends was a missing person from 2:15pm until around 7:30 or so. Turns out he got in trouble at school and thought he was going to get in trouble at home too. He didn't want to go home so he just didn't and no one could find him. He was later found at the school safe and sound. I want to talk to Rocky and make sure he is really alright. I tried texting him but didn't get any answer. I know his parents probably took him phone away but that doesn't stop me from wanting to check on him and be there for him. I tried messaging this one lady that said she was friends with his Mom but she won't answer me either. My question is this ... How can I stop worrying when no one will let me talk to him. I know he is in trouble and I know what he did was wrong and I know it affects others but I am one of the others and I am affected too. Since I don't attend school with him I can't see him at school like everyone else. How am I suppose to be there for him as a friend (and let him know what he did was not cool) if no one will let me talk to him and I can't see him at school?
After the week my family has had Mom is really trying to make things cheery around the house. She had been working on a surprize for me and because of everything that happened she didn't get it done. But she decided to do it anyway ... Done or not. So this morning I woke up to this crazy thing hanging in the front room window. Mom told me she had wanted it some place else but it didn't work because of how long it is. This is my new Advent Calendar.
Each day I get to take down a small bag that has the date on it. (That is the part that isn't done. Mom didn't get all the number embroidered on them but that is okay I know my numbers ...LOL)
Today I found my favorite treat of all time ... STRAWBERRY CANDY!! What a great way to start the day after everything that has happened. It can only get better now ...
