So due to circumstances and issues beyond my control everyone but Mom and I went home today. We decided to make the best of it and Mom carried on with the plans I had for the day. First we had ice cream at the oldest ice cream parlor in Branson... it has been in business for over 40 years and Mom and Dad stop in every time we come to Branson. From there we went to a bunch of "antique shops" That I like to call junk shops. We found a few things we liked but one thing we were surprised to see this little treasure for only 150 bucks. If you are in the area and interested it is for sale and it works ... After that Mom and I went and played Mini golf and you guessed it ... it is the same place that Mom and Dad always play putt putt golf at every time we come to Branson ... Old habits die hard don't they? We ended out the day just kicking back and enjoying the resort. After a really rough start I think we had a pretty good day.
Today I am going to post a few pictures from Vacation ... We are having a great time and there is still a whole lot of spinning going on ... At the museum Steamboat in the back ground ... Kiddy Speed boat .... I can power a light bulb... A flower for the Ladies ... Waterfall on the nature trail....
Today we only did a short trip out into town. First, we went to the fish hatchery and then headed to the museum. The Hatchery raises Rainbow trout for people to catch and turn loss in a catch and release program. The Hatchery is located at the bottom of the dam but at the top of the Dam we went to the Museum about the building and construction of the dam at Table Rock Lake. We had fun playing with the hands on exhibits. There was one that you cranked to see what household appliances you could make enough energy to run... I got a light bulb up and running with no problems all though the blender and coffee grinder took more work. From there we headed back to the Rider makers store to exchange a purchase I made yesterday and get the things I wanted to soup up my truck. Check this Baby out ... Then tonight Ms. Karen took us kids out for Custard. Everyone seemed to have a great time .... and the spinning continues as well.
Today was pretty cool. I started off practicing roping the dummy. Then Mom had a meeting that took a bit but I was fed donuts at 10 then at like 11 they brought out Nachos. When there is food I am good. It took a bit longer then Mom thought it would but when she got done she took me to Ride Makerz Car Shop. It is like a build a bear place but you make remote controlled cars. I got the cars last time I was here so this time I got Bling to dress them up ... We had to make a run to Wal-Mart too but we had a really cool dinner. It was a dinner with entertainment. The dinner was pulled pork or beef with salad, Mac and Cheese, roll, beans, drink and a dessert. All that while getting samples of different shows. We saw so many it was had to say which one was my favorite but I loved the Comedy guys. There were a few really good singers. There were cute girls there too so in my book It was a great show. I tried taking some pictures of the show but they didn't really turn out good because we were running late and had to sit all the way at the back.
After the show we played Late night bingo ... I didn't win anything but Karen B won a price is right T-Shirt in a drawing so that was cool... Hello, I am Karen B. one of RJ's guest bloggers. We are having a great time here in Branson on vacation. I am relearning the importance of teamwork and humor. We went on a road trip today to Springfield and the places we were going wound up being closed....while disappointing we were able to laugh (okay not right at first) but eventually and we wound up at Hobby Lobby and had a good time. Later tonight we were trying to skein some yarn and had multiple equipment malfunctions however with all four of us we got it skeined. I am reminded that being with friends and sharing makes life better even the rough spots. I'm working on my Hitchhiker for RJ and Tour De Fleece spinning which is finishing the Berry Blast batt and Lollipop batt.
Hi, I'm Sarah R., another guest blogger for RJ. We've been together for a little over a day and we are having a great time. Lots of knitting, spinning, laughing, talking, and great food. RJ is a great cook! He cooked a deer roast yesterday evening that was so super tender! There was also mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. YUM! Today, we drove quite a ways to a nearby town. I'm very glad that I had my car checked out a few weeks ago, because I definitely need the brakes around here! Hills, valleys, sharp turns, you name it and we faced it! While there we had a pretty good lunch at The Waffle House and ordered pizza from the place here at the resort tonight for dinner. It was really good, too. Can't wait to see what we get tomorrow! Good memories and food = wonderful time with friends! I've been knitting with some yarn that I purchased from RJ last year at Fiber Christmas in July. It will be a shrug when I finished with that. I've started spinning some Masham fiber and have about 1/2 a bobbin so far. I'm hoping to get the 4 oz. spun before the end of Tour De Fleece this weekend. Here's hoping I manage the job! It does seem very odd not to have to dodge critters while spending time with RJ and his mom, and it is great fun to watch RJ practice his courting skills. There is a girls softball team here:) He seems to be spending a lot of time in the parking lot, nature trail, or elevator waiting for the girls, but he keeps finding the dads with their golf clubs. Wonder what that's about? Tomorrows adventure is to find Wal-Mart so we can get those important things we forgot to bring. Who knows where we might end up.... Today started like any other. I got up and Dad and I went to the roping pen. When we were done Mom and I headed to Branson on Vacation .... This is my view for the next week. On the way down to Branson I did get Mom to stop off at the PFI store but I didn't end up buying anything. I decided that tonight I would do the cooking as we all take turns. I made a roast, mash potatoes, gravy, and Corn. After Dinner this was my view for the rest of the night ...
Today was like every other Saturday. It was sale day. But today was different... or at least it felt different. I worked the sale knowing that I won't have to work for 2 weeks. Tomorrow Mom and I leave for Branson on Vacation. I will have a week with no alarms and no chores. Mom says that it is important for me to have that as a kid. I don't think it is important but hey I am 15 and man do I love to get to sleep in ... Anyway, On the way down Mom wanted to stop at a yarn shop but it turns out it is closed on Sundays so she said she will visit it another time. As for me I am off to bed ... Then tomorrow I will rope in the morning and leave about 9am to a week of laid back, doin' nothin' kind of sunshine ....
I had alot of get done before vacation. Things that needed to be done but couldn't because of the heat. At 85 degrees by about 8am there isn't a whole lot of time in the cool these days. So under the cover of darkness and the cool of 2am I went to the sheep pen where I penned everything last night and I got to work. Mom had to work so Dad came out and helped me trim feet and worm everything. From Goats to sheep to alpaca, everyone got the full treatment. Since it was dark it took me a bit longer to do then when it is light. We have lights out there but it is so much easier with sunlight then the drop lights. When we got done we had just enough daylight breaking that Dad and I decided to rope a few calves before it got hot. By the time we finished up in the practice pen We made a run to get Sickle blade guards so we could get back to cutting some hay. Before we hit the hay so to speak we took back the barrowed trailer we used for the petting zoo yesterday. By the time we got home and got the mower together and running again it was evening and we hauled in our first 56 bales. Tomorrow I work the sale barn and then start my Vacation... tonight I am like a little squirrel gathering food to take on the trip. My bag is packed except a few things. I have more done then Mom though she spent part of today getting fiber things ready to go ... In her ravelry post she said she thought she had it all ... "I have my hand carders, drum carder, mini combs, fiber, my washing supplies, salad spinner, old drop spindle (awhole nother story there) swift, umbrella, ball winder, fiber notebooks, spinning wheel, knitty knotty"
Oh I have to tell you the "whole other Story" Mom has been wanting a bottom whorl stone spindle for awhile now... She can't seem to find one that she likes and if she did they all seem to end up being top whorl. So she finally settled on one and it was a flower stone whorl spindle listed on Etsy as a Bottom whorl. Mom ordered it so that it would get here in time to take on Vacation. Well, right on time it came and quess what ... It was a top whorl. LOL ... Mom was not amused. She contacted the lady on Etsy who said she can't see how it was the wrong one but she isn't at home right now so she will check when she gets home. Needless to say Mom isn't happy because that means that since we have no mail service on Saturday and we will be gone next week she won't get to mail it back until two weeks from now let alone get the right one ... Mom really, really isn't happy she even asked on Plurk if she had them backwards all these years... Poor Mom she must need a vacation.... Oh my, I wish you could see how rough Mom and I look. Today we had the petting zoo for the local summer reading program. When Mom called and confirmed everything Monday we were told that the most kids they had this summer was 109 but that 119 were enrolled in the program. We were prepared for 120 and got over 135. That is just the kids. We lost count of the adults at about 45. At one point people driving by were stopping their cars and turning around to come see everything. I was hot and we were only suppose to have two groups of kids. One at 10am and one at 1pm. We ended up staying all day and finally Mom had to tell people that the animals had to go home due to the heat. We didn't get every torn down until after 3pm and the last load of stuff home until 4. It was a long, hot day and we didn't even get to eat our lunch without people coming to see the animals. The local newspaper even showed up ... We took a few pens, add in a few animals and what we got was a large crowd ... Kids and adults alike loved it and we didn't hear not one bad thing about our petting zoo
The craziness of July Continues ... Tomorrow we have the petting zoo and we are ready for it. We have everything we need. The trailer is loaded with pens and the animals are penned for the night. Tomorrow the following creatures will feel the love of about 150 kids: Sedan - the pony Mo - the jersey calf Charlie - the alpaca Jorden - the alpaca Charlie - the sheep Grover - the goat Penny - the dog Gobbles - the turkey Mom's job has been crazy too and she again had to bring it home with her... Look at the work Mom brought home this time ... We are calling her Katie 2 ... she is a Lamacha cross and she will stay here until we can locate her owner. It is amazing what you can find roaming the streets of a city. Silly Goat, doesn't she know she belongs in the country. She is thin and was very hot when Mom got her home so she is hanging out in the goat pen while she is here. Mom's job really has been crazy these past weeks. Her Asst. got a better job so Mom has been trying to get a new person hired before she goes on Vacation. Even if that doesn't happen she has the shelter covered by volunteers until she gets back. Honestly I think her and I both are ready for a week of AC and sleeping in ...
Dates to remember ... We leave for Vacation the 14th We leave for Fiber Christmas in July the 26th We leave for Louisiana the 29th Oh and all the days we are home we are haying and Mom is working ... |
