Answering Questions ...

2/16/2013

First, I have to let everyone know that Katie went home yesterday.  Her owner called someone that knew Mom had her and Mom took her back to them yesterday after she got off work.  (So much for Mom's Birthday gift)  I went to an indoor goat roping last night and won 2nd.
Okay now on to the Questions.  First, I want to tell you I am going to answer all the questions posted on the blog the best I can.  Remember I am learning too .... First Question ... Why do Babies shake their tails.  Most the time I have noticed that they shake them when Momma coos to them.  I know that livestock identify their babies by the smell of their poo and their backsides.  In other livestock wagging tails help the scent get to Momma's nose so I can only imagine that sheep are the same way.
Second Question, Has Snickers ever been a Mom before.  It seems that is the reason she ended up at that sale to be sold for meat.  The last owner said she couldn't get her to breed.  We think she either has a thing for smaller Rams or she was saving it all up for us.  Which brings us to the big question ... Aren't Quadruplets unusual?  Well, at the time Snickers was delivering we just thought we were blessed.  We didn't know that they were unusual until until other told us it was.  And the same thing goes for Snickers.  She doesn't know that she isn't suppose to have 4 babies.  She thinks it is normal since it is all that she knows and that works the same with us.  Our first Ewe ever to birth here and it had Quads.  We, like Snickers, didn't know it was unusual ...
Now I know that I can't just take all the cuteness away in one shot so here is a little something to keep the withdrawls away ...
I know you thought it would be sheep didn't you???  LOL

That's amazing about Snickers. She's such a good mom, you'd think she'd been having babies all her life. Well done with your goat roping!
