Angel report and 4-H fun

12/21/2011

Today was both good and not so good. It was in no way bad so I won't even say that.  First for the good.  I had a great time with everyone on my 4-H record book trip.  We went to Tulsa and ate at Incredible Pizza and then went skating at the outside rink.  We all had fun and wore ourselves out.
Then on the home front .... The horse shoer came today.  All the horses got a trim, even Angel.  Now for the not so good.  The shoer found an abscess on Angel's left back hoof.  It is common in horses that aren't cared for but not common at our house.  Angel is such a good girl not only did she stand and let him tend to her hooves with no fuss but she also let him drain it and clean it up.  She didn't even move.  In some ways that isn't all that good because it means she can take more pain then she should and not show signs.  All in all with the abscess draining and us keeping it clean she is going to be fine.  We will just have to take extra care and watch her from now on because she won't show pain if she is hurt as much as other  horses would.
