So a couple of days ago Mom made arrangements to bring home 3 rescue bunnies from another shelter. The plan was to bring them home and then make them available to kids for 4-H projects for free. Well, today we went and got the bunnies.
Yup, you guessed it ... It isn't going as planned. When we got the bunnies home we took time to get them out of the carriers, inspect them and play with them a bit. This is what we found ...
Yes, those are it's nails wrapped around Mom's finger...
This is the brown and white one ... They don't even know if they are girls or boys
This is the little black and white one ... Check out his nails too
And this one is the solid black one. They are all really sweet. Mom is mad though. She says she wants to know how a shelter with two vets on staff can let these sweet animals live like that. They were a big fancy place with Men working on building an entire room for cats. They had indoor and outdoor runs for the dogs and even a sancuary in the middle of the building. Not to mention a full surgery room, intake rooms and two car garage. But even with all that no one took time to clip the nails on the bunnies or even take care of them right? To top it off when we went to put them in our carriers the girl that was suppose to be cleaning out their cages said that she wouldn't even pick them up. She acted like she hated them. She only cared about the solid black one. That really is sad and I can understand why Mom is upset with them.
Over the next couple of weeks the bunnies will be taken care of, with their nails clipped and their teeth checked and clipped if needed. They will also be handled each day for a bit to get used to it. Then they will go to 4-H kids to take on as projects. In the end the Bunnies will get better homes it will just take a bit more time then we first thought.
