I'm a knitter and spinner. I even raise my own angora bunnies and sell handspun yarn and handknit hats. Because of my background in the fiber world I am enthusiastic about supporting independent yarn dyers and small fiber businesses. I was lucky to get two skeins of RJ's mohair/wool blend yarn. The hand (feel) of the yarn is amazing. Very soft. The type you want to just cuddle with--forget bothering to knit something with it! To Gild the Lily, I dyed the skeins a lovely orange-red sunset color. Not only did the yarn take up the dye fabulously, the natural sheen of the mohair lends a wonderful luster and depth to the yarn, creating jewel-like colors. AND, I knit a pair of socks with ONE skein!
I have also purchased alpaca fiber from him. It was cleaner than most unprocessed alpaca fiber I have purchased, and the quality of the fiber was exceptional. I washed, carded and blended it with some wool and my bunny fiber, and got a fabulous yarn from it. I'd snap up either fiber or yarn if i were you--the prices are more than reasonable and the quality is exceptional. All my dealings with Mr. RJ have been endlessly professional and friendly. It is exciting to follow this young man's adventures, troubles, and accomplishments. He has been open to and asking for feedback--a good sign of an eager learner! Vtknitboy/Chris F. Jericho, VT I am an avid knitter, and an avid buyer of yarn, and the yarn I've acquired through my RJ's QTs CSA share is some of the best yarn I've ever seen or bought. I've received my share twice, and have signed up for a third share. The yarn is just so "yummy" - it's unbelievably soft. I'm also a big supporter of independent yarn producers and dyers, and I can't think of a better young businessman to support than RJ. I highly recommend the yarn from RJ's QTs!

I have heard that no good deed goes unnoticed. My start with RJ began when he was trying to add sheep to his herd of Goats. His mother is a friend and had been keeping me up to date on his business endeavors and yes I voted on his video that led to his first fiber animals. She told me of his plan to use investors to grow his herd. What an enterprising young man, so I bought a share of yarn because I did not know what roving was:). I then realized that I had no way to use the yarn, so that led to knitting lessons while on vacation. That was such fun that I took a spinning class. Then I needed both yarn and roving and knew just where to get them from RJ Straw. Since then I have been to fiber festivals, completed a yarn hop, and joined a fiber circle. I am lucky because I have had the pleasure of being a visitor to the Straw farm. I can't express how wonderful it is to get to meet the animals in person and later get to create something out of their fleece. The Straw family is very kind and patient with newbies like me, even when the ram I transported got loose in their house. The atmosphere at the farm and the interaction with the family and the animals renews my spirit and is kind of like an oasis for my very busy life. I could get fiber other places but I prefer to go to the Straw Farm where I can get quality product created with caring and a true family atmosphere. My little investment paid out dividends I never anticipated and brightened my life immeasurably. I encourage everyone to become a QT, you never know where it might lead!!
